SWK 611 Psychopathology in Social Work Practice
(3-0-3) This course introduces students to clinical assessment and psychopathology from the perspective of social work. Students learn to identify the major mental disorders typically encountered by social workers in clinical practice. Students practice clinical assessments to formulate diagnoses using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in a culturally sensitive and ethical manner. Students gain skills by researching and communicating effective evidence-based treatment approaches in clinical practice. Admission to the MSW Program is required.
