SSE 426 Structural and Thermal Systems

(3-0-3) This course provides an in-depth examination of statics, dynamics, structural mechanics, thermodynamics, and both thermal and structural finite element analysis (FEA). It introduces students to computer-aided simulation, fundamental stress physics, stress and vibrational mode analysis, and thermal engineering, along with key principles for designing systems that manage thermal and mechanical stresses. The course also includes an introduction to applicable SAE standards for structural and thermal systems as well as NASA technical standard subsection 5000 which covers Structures/Mechanical Systems, as well as Thermal standards
