PHIL 383 Legal and Ethical Issues in Healthcare
(3-0-3) This course is a basic introduction to legal and ethical issues in healthcare (often referred to as "biomedical ethics"). The course offers students a combination of ethical, legal, and policy perspectives on a variety of healthcare related topics. Topics discussed in the course might include in vitro fertilization, genetic testing, surrogacy, parental rights, abortion, doctor-patient relationships, physician assisted suicide, organ donation, truth-telling, and research on human subjects among others.
