ART 361 Ancient Greek and Roman Art
(3-0-3) This course is a broad survey of the major works of ancient Greek and Roman art from the Bronze Age through Late Antiquity, c. 1500 BCE-c. 500 CE. We will discuss the major artistic styles as well as explore themes including the role of artists and patrons, the connection between art and politics, gender and the arts, and the impact of Greek and Roman art on Western culture.
