MATH 131 General Mathematics Problem Solving
(3-0-3) A course providing the student with experiences designed to improve the ability to make decisions and solve a variety of problems. Emphasis is on learning to investigate, organize, observe, question, discuss, reason, generalize and validate. Mathematical content includes topics which are related to consumer mathematics, geometry, graphs, probability and statistics. Students with an ACT MATH subscore of 18 or below will take the enhanced/corequisite version of this course (MATH 131E), which adds additional instructional support. The enhanced/corequisite course (MATH 131E) meets five hours per week. This course satisfies the Level 1 core-mathematics requirement for general education.
Prerequisite
ACT Math score of 19 or higher, SAT Math score of 510 or higher, KYOTE College Readiness Mathematics score of 22 or higher, Accuplacer Next Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics score of 237 or higher, or GED College Readiness Mathematics score of 165 or higher.
