SSE 390 Mission Life Cycle Processes

(3-0-3) The student will learn and practice aerospace systems engineering skills essential for mission success and supporting a mission team throughout all mission phases (formulation, implementation, building, integration and testing, operation). Emphasis will be on how to achieve mission goals within scope, budget, risk, and schedule, and why developing and managing well-written requirements in a process known as "flow down" or "traceback" assures that hardware and software performance and interface specifications and operations can be verified and validated. The student will be exposed to examples of this process on a range of missions, and perform exercises to learn effective approaches to apply future projects.
