Graduating with Honors
Formal recognition is given to two-year and four-year graduates who have achieved academic excellence. Baccalaureate degree recipients must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at MSU with an institutional GPA of 3.5 or higher. Associate degree recipients must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at MSU with an institutional GPA of 3.6 or higher. Only work completed at MSU is used to compute GPA.
Baccalaureate Degree Honors
Summa Cum Laude - Institutional GPA of 3.9 to 4.0
Magna Cum Laude - Institutional GPA of 3.7 to 3.89
Cum Laude - Institutional GPA of 3.5 to 3.69
Associate Degree Honors
With Distinction - Institutional GPA of 3.6 to 4.0
Latin Honors will be printed on the student's diploma and official transcript. Postbaccalaureate, Master's, Ed.S., Ed.D., and D.Eng. students are not awarded these honors.
