ENG 280 Introduction to Teaching English in Middle and Secondary Schools
(3-0-3) This course familiarizes students with national and state standards in the integrated language arts. Emphasis will be on building foundational knowledge to help students understand the standards, including a review of Standard Written English grammar rules and their role in language diversity, a consideration of the role of multiliteracies in grade 5-12 language arts pedagogy, and a curation of representative grade 5-12 instructional activities in teaching literature, writing, and speaking and listening.
