ETM 201 Technology and Life Sciences

(3-0-3) This course is for a broad audience covering a historical overview and future prospects of the role of technology in various life sciences areas including biology, medicine, and clinical sciences. The course will present the array of technological applications in life sciences including assistive technologies, imaging technologies, biomechatronics, industrial biotechnology, telemedicine, etc. Emerging technologies in life sciences have ethical ramifications and the course will examine issues and ethics concerning the future use of these technologies. Environmental and economic aspects of life sciences technologies will also be explored. This course satisfies the Level 2 Knowledge NSC requirement for general education.
