NUTR 101 Nutrition and Well Being

(3-0-3) This course will cover the fundamental concepts of nutrition: terminology, physical and chemical properties of nutrients, food sources and functions. This course will include the body's utilization of food, nutrients and calories (absorption, transport and metabolism). This course presents the core information for the introduction to the applied science of nutrition. This course will explore what Americans are eating, dietary guidelines and recommended nutrient intakes for Americans, and the important relationship between diet and health. This course satisfies the Level 2 Knowledge NSC requirement for general education.
