FYS 101 First Year Seminar
(3-0-3) A seminar that orients first year students to Morehead State University emphasizing strategies to achieve the academic, social, personal, financial, emotional and physical well-being that leads to college-level success and completion. This course fosters a sense of belonging and purpose in college work, promotes engagement in the curricular and co-curricular life of the university, articulates the expectations of the University and its faculty, and helps students develop and apply skills for college-level reading, critical thinking, and financial literacy. Students who do not meet the minimum reading ACT score of 19 will take the enhanced/corequisite version of this course (FYS 101E), which adds additional instructional support. The enhanced/corequisite course (FYS 101E) meets five hours per week. This course satisfies the Level 1 core requirement for general education.
Prerequisite
One of the following: 1. ACT Reading score of 20 or higher 2. SAT Reading score of 24 or higher 3. KYOTE Reading score of 20 or higher 4. Accuplacer Reading score 250 or higher 5. GED College Readiness Language Arts score of 165 or higher
