MUSE 416 Vocal Pedagogy for the Music Educator

This course will acquaint the music education major with the structure, function and development of the vocal mechanism. Students will learn how to protect and develop the vocal instrument in individual and group instructional settings. Topics include the physiology of the singing voice, basics of singing, acoustics, characteristics of voices at various developmental stages, vocal health, teaching singing in individual and group settings, choosing repertoire to support the development of the vocal instrument, assessing results and nurturing musical artistry.
